No Service While Porting?

Will there be a period of time when I will have no cell phone service when porting my AT&T number to Straight Talk?

Hi Zzz. My name is StraightTalk Stephanie and I will be addressing your question. The port process may take up to 72 hours so you may not be able to use the phone while processing the port within this period. Thanks!

I understand the Straight Talk phone will not be in service, but will I continue to have service on my AT&T during the 72 hours or will BOTH services be unavailable for the entire time?
