Port in progess/Your sim card is invalid

I recently bought a new sim card (verizon) to switch with my (t-mobile) because I wasn't getting service in my area. I had the sim activated but the service is still inactive, so as I go on to activate it, it says the sim card is invalid. When trying to activated online it says transaction cannot be complete.
