"SIM card number entered no longer can be used"

We've had the phone for years, used it for a long time, but haven't used it in about a year. Today, we needed to reactivate it. Bought a 30-day plan, tried to activate the phone, but when I entered the SIM card it just says "Our records show that the SIM card number entered no longer can be used."
Is this an error or is there some reason? And how do I fix it? Do I have to buy a new SIM and if so how do I make sure I get one that will work? I REALLY NEED phone service ASAP.

Having this issue. Purchased the phone a while ago. I stopped adding time to the phone and now that I want to, it told me the phone number expired. Went to Walmart, talked to one of the "Specialists" about fixing this issue and she sold me a service card, telling me I wont need an Activation Kit. Went home, tried for a couple hours to get it working but the Straight Talk website is garbage and fails to correctly explain where and how to find the SIM Number.
Finally figured it out on my own only for the webpage to tell me "Our records show that the SIM card number entered no longer can be used." Wtf kind of scheme are you guys trying to run here?! I purchased the phone and your service and now apparently, I require an activation kit that costs $45 right after some "Specialist" **** sold me your crap for $35.
This is the last chance im giving you guys to fix this. I cant afford to spend another $45 on an activation kit. So if you wont fix this, then im screwed cause I already scratched the seal off the service card.
