Data problems on new Straight Talk AT&T SIM activation...

Postby turambar99 » Thu Aug 30, 2012 2:31 pm

I have an unlocked Nexus S (i9020A) with a brand new activated ST AT&T compatible SIM running Jelly Bean.

The SIM activation was successful, and I can make and receive calls, but data is barely functional.

My APN settings are as follows:

Name: ST (or whatever you want)
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
Port: 80
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: Not set
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMSC proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication Type: Not set
APN type: default,supl,mms
APN protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Not specified

When attempting web access, I routinely get a "authentication via proxy server was unsuccessful " error, and extremely slow data speeds. The Ookla SpeedTest app will not even run to completion because my data rates are so low; rather it just fails with a network connectivity error.

It seems like many people are having these same issues; has anyone had any success tweaking APN settings to get decent network data rates?

Is there some underlying issue with operating on AT&T as an MVNO? According to many forums, there are a large number of people having the same intermittent data problem.

How about you just email me at the email address I provided when I signed up to this forum? I cannot PM you due to the crazy setup of this forum; I have posted more than 5 messages to this forum but I still cannot reply to your PM...
