Smart phone service

Postby happy23 » Wed Nov 03, 2010 11:37 am

Can someone tell me will the smartphones have better network service than the standard phones. Meaning can they receive service where the regular phones cannot? IE. Nor regular service in Oklahoma City, OK. Will Smart Phones get service?

Hi Happy23. My name is Straight Talk Sophie and I will be addressing your question. Smart Phones will work with AT&T or T-Mobile network. Most likely, you will be getting the same service as with the other phones that is activated with either of these two carriers. I believe this answers your question. It's been a pleasure helping you. Have a good day. Thanks.

No it does not answer question. What is the difference between Verizon Pre-paid and AT&T and T-Mobile Smart Phone service. Your Smartphones cost $244.00 dollars. thats a lot of money for same crappy area coverage. I want to know if my service will be better with a smart phone. Not "Most likely"

Hi. My name is StraightTalk Stephanie and I will be addressing your question. The smart phones and the regular phones will basically get the same connection depending on your location with the network. Smart phones will get 3G coverage provided by AT&T and T-Mobile for Data services. The only difference the smart phone has over the regular phone is that it has updated features and applications than the regualr phone. I believe this answers your question. It's been a pleasure helping you. Have a good day.

Hello, I would like to add to this conversation. I currently use the Samsung R355c and am looking at upgrading to the Nokia E71. Am I hearing that the "DATA" will be under ATT or TMobile and the "VOICE" will be under Verizon still or will that phone be solely under ATT or TMobile for its entirety of service? My other question is how will I know which service I am under for sure? Some places I travel have next to zero service with TMobile but may have decent ATT service. I don't want to be stuck under TMobile and not be able to use my phone when I travel. Thank you

Hi. My name is TracFone Stephanie and I will be addressing your question. The smartphones are GSM phones and it will be activated either with T-Mobile or AT@T based on the sim card that comes with the package and based on the network coverage in your area. You will be able to know your service based on the sim card or you can also call the Customer Service Hotline number 1-877-430-2355 about your network once your phone is activated. I believe this answers your question. It's been a pleasure helping you. Have a good day.

After looking at coverage maps nation-wide and what is available locally, balanced against my personal needs, I chose to go with a CDMA phone. This is best explained as Verizon vs AT&T . GSM gives more flexibility to use your phone in other countries, but CDMA seems to give better coverage in more places domestically. Now that I've put $$ into a ST phone, I'll get to test my theory!
