Service pin is illegible

I purchased an activation kit yesterday and after I scratched off the silver stuff on the service pin many of the numbers were either gone or illegible. Is there a way to retrieve the number in other ways? I'd rather have not wasted a considerable amount of money as Wal-Mart will not accept a return on this item. Thank you.

That is exactly what happened to me. Trying to activate initial service and just bought the service plan tonight. That grey stuff DOES NOT scratch off, it smears. Three intelligent adults worked at it and we would be lucky to read 5 digits. WHHYY!!! Now Im trying to change from verizon after 12 years and here I sit after customer service is closed with a new phone and no service. This service plan card is ridiculous! What now??

I have bought a 45 minute card for my daughters straight talk phone. When scratching off the grey the service pin became unreadable. Please help me to fix this problem. I still have the card and the receipt. What can I do ?
