Activation Kit Issues

Activation Kit Issues

Postby pangn » Fri Dec 13, 2013 12:27 am

I went to the BYOP website and entered my phones serial number and zip code, where it told me I was eligible for service and all I needed to do was buy the activation kit.

I bought the $60 activation kit (kit + $45 airtime), to call in and be informed that the only network that allows my phone (AT&T) to be imported doesn't provide coverage for my area with Straight Talk.

Now I am stuck with a $60 piece of paper that I can't use. Walmart will not refund me for the activation kit because it was opened. I would like to just exchange my sim card access/$45 plan for two $30 plans so I can just use a cheap phone for a few months, since nobody will refund me. The phone I will be using is a Droid 2, no SIM card required, but the activation # off the red card in my kit does not work. So I am incredibly frustrated.

Can someone please help me?

Thanks.

I did the same thing. Went to the website and put my phone information in. It told me my phone was eligible for BYOP . I went to Wal-Mart and bought the activation kit and when I went to activate it, customer service told me my phone was not eligible. So I wasted 60 on a kit I can not use nor return due to it being opened. What a waste!!! I am incredibly frustrated!!!!

I did the BYOP program. I called before I bought the activation kit from walmart to make sure the phone I had and the service is going to work. The reps told me I would have 4g service and the phone was going to work fine. After buying the activation kit, activating the phone, and changing the APN settings. I found out that I had terrible service at my house and now I am out $60.00 for the activation kit. I am frustrated and need this fixed

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has experienced this. I have planned to move to straight talk from Verizon for months now. Check both phones I wanted to move months ago to make sure I could. When it can time to move I bought two activation kits from Walmart. After three days, several straight talk tech support, and several hours I got my phone completely switched over. Then I tried to move the other phone. I talked in again for help because it wasn't letting me finish the activation online. The support person on the phone told me this phone wasn't able to be used on Straight talk yet. However if you put the number in on the website it says it's compatible. I was getting increasingly upset because the website is making false advertisements and the individual on the phone sounded like she was reading a script and had no trouble shooting skills. I told her I wanted both phones or none and she told me I could take them back to where I got them. Ha more false advertising, the package says nonrefundable and apparently many others have tried. So after 5 hours and $146.xx, I'm back with Verizon and my phone is still not working yet because the number is being ported back to verizon from Straight Talk. The time and aggregation will have to be chalk up as learning experience. Anyone have any idea how I can get my money back?
